The state of California is taking online student success seriously. They have set a new standard of what can be done when educators have an objective, get a plan, and pool resources together. The Online Education Initiative (OEI) is a collaborative effort among California Community Colleges (CCCs) to ensure that significantly more students are able to complete their educational goals by increasing both access to and success in high-quality online courses. The program is funded from a $56.9 million five-year grant disbursed by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO).
One of the programs launched by the OEI is the Student Success Resources which includes an online learner readiness orientation course, tutoring resources, and counseling for online students. Also included are multiple faculty resources like professional development courses, training, and peer review tools.
